Abstract:
This session delves into four key innovations transforming classroom assessment for young learners and teens, equipping teachers with new approaches to evaluate student progress. We’ll begin by exploring alternative assessment methods and formative practices that provide more comprehensive, continuous insights into learner progress. Next, we’ll look at alignment and washback, discussing how well-aligned assessments positively influence teaching practices. We’ll then examine different test types and uses, considering how purpose-driven assessment enhances learning outcomes. Finally, we’ll explore the potential of AI to offer feedback and streamline assessment in the classroom. By the end of this session, teachers will have practical strategies to implement these innovations, fostering an engaging, supportive learning environment that benefits students at every stage of their learning journey.
